Grizzly Golf Tour bites into local golf market with signing of Managing Director and Tournament Operations Manager

Vancouver, B.C. – The Grizzly Golf Tour [GGT] is proud to announce the signing of PGA of Canada golf professional Brad Ewart as Managing Director and Tournament Operations Manager.Ewart, 62, brings a wealth of golf and media experience to the Grizzly Golf Tour.  A Teaching Professional at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course and Class ‘A’ member of the PGA of Canada, for the past six years Ewart has served as a Tournament Director for the Canadian Junior Golf Association.

“Our focus at the GTT is to do our part in growing the game of golf in B.C. ” said Ewart. “Affordable and inclusive: if we can maintain that mandate and bring as many new golfers into the game as we can, then we will be doing our job.”

The GGT divisions are new-to-golf Cubs (5-15 years), Juniors (12-18 years), and Adults (all ages). The 2018 schedule will be concentrated in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley with a plan in the next few years to expand around the province.

“Brad Ewart is a very welcome addition to the Grizzly Golf Tour,” said T.J. Atley, GGT founder and LPGA Teaching Professional. “Brad has been running tournaments for juniors for years and brings unrivalled knowledge as both a golf professional and golf media specialist. We have exciting and long term plans for the Grizzly Golf Tour, and now we can get going.”

The GGT Cubs will compete on pitch & putt par-threes, executive courses, and full-length courses set to a much shorter standard. The Grizzly Golf Junior Tour and Grizzly Golf Adult Tour events will be staged on full-length courses with yardages set to various standards within age divisions. The Cubs and Juniors tournaments are stroke play events; the Grizzly Tour for Adults will use the Stableford or par-points scoring system.

The GGT tournaments, all played under The Rules of Golf, are designed to be competitive for the keen golfer, and a fun recreational pursuit for those new-to-golf or those who want to learn the competitive nature of the game. For many young golfers, the GGT can be the first step towards eventually earning golf scholarships in Canada and USA.
